Welcome to the Hollywood Schoolhouse

Dear Prospective Parent,

As I take some time to reflect on my few years as a member of the Schoolhouse Family, I wish to share with you my profound commitment to our School’s Mission. If I were to judge what characterizes a Schoolhouse education, I would need to do nothing more than observe our children, teachers and administrators at work. When I accompany our children on a field trip, or watch them on the play yard, I am proud of the way they conduct themselves and the positive example they set for others. When I look at the Schoolhouse faculty, I see people who go beyond the call of duty to motivate and teach their students to do their best and be their best.

The spirit of our Mission is clearly alive in the examples set by students, teachers, administrators, staff and parents who believe that each child is special and that it is love which will develop each child’s gifts and give them an appreciation of their own life and the life of others.
As we enter our 65th School Year, it seems a good time to acknowledge our commitment to the essential beliefs and traditions of our school. The Hollywood Schoolhouse will remain, as it always has been, a nurturing educational setting where individuality is cherished and each child is known, valued, encouraged and challenged. We are a school that affirms diversity, civic responsibility and respect for the environment as indispensable components of academic excellence. I believe that our school family will grow stronger as a result of our ability to maintain valued traditions while absorbing the waves of change which have inundated independent education since our founding.
Our continued commitment to the ideal of the Hollywood Schoolhouse – the education of individuals beyond the pursuit of academic information, an education which emphasizes the dignity and uniqueness of each child – will affect every member of our community. I feel fortunate to be part of this effort.
